EMBELLISHING PROCESS

Embellishing Process for Giclee Prints

Here is a before and after example of a print being embellished. This shows the way I paint over the existing print to give it the look of an original painting. There is a point that an artist will call an original “finished”. When I start back on embellishing the Giclee, I get a chance to start again and add things that were not in the original. In many ways, the Giclee has more new work than the original! I have found, there is no way to get the deep rich color that you see in originals without glazing and adding paint to the Giclee. The dark areas look flat and dry before adding color back in with the paint glaze; and the buildup of thick paint adds reality to the print. All my canvas prints are embellished in this way.
